ENJOY THE NATURE AROUND BARKALA
Bushwalking & Trails
We have established kilometers of scenic bush walking tracks on our farm for visitors to enjoy. The best season for bush walking in our area is spring when an ocean of wild flowers are blooming.
Kerry Lowe, a very knowledgeable local bush walker, has put all the hard work into finding the best lookouts, rock formations, and caves on the farm, and has also designed our bush walking maps.
On occasional weekends or for group bookings by arrangement, Kerry can take you on a guided bush walk to share his knowledge and love for the Pilliga bush.
On any other given day of the year you are invited to explore our farm with the help of the maps and signs on the way. Maps are displayed in the pottery ready to be photographed. To be well prepared please download or print them before you get to us. General bush walking gear to bring are sensible shoes, water bottle, insect repellent, hat and sunscreen. Fun things to bring for the kids can be walkie talkies, walking stick, bikes or binoculars.
Please keep in mind Pilliga Pottery Creative Farmstay is an operating farm with native and domestic animals, dams, creeks and electric fences. A snake first aid kit and defibrillator is located at reception.
Bush walking etiquette: Please don’t leave any trace of you behind - no rubbish, doggy poo bags or graffiti. Please leave all gates as you find them. There are insulator handles you can use to open and close the electrified fences. If you drive with your car make sure you stay on our farm tracks at all times.
